Traralgon runs a handful of events that repeat every month or every year, which makes planning a visit easier than chasing a one-off listing. Dates shift a little from year to year, so treat the notes below as the usual pattern and confirm with the organiser before you travel.

Every month
Traralgon Farmers Market
The fourth Saturday of the month, 8 am to 1 pm, in Kay Street Gardens in the town centre. The Traralgon Lions Club runs it rain or shine. It is a produce market, not a craft market: fruit and vegetables, baked goods and other food from local growers. There is usually a Christmas twilight market in late December as well. Miniature train rides
The Gippsland Model Engineering Society runs public rides in Newman Park on the fourth Sunday of each month from February to November, typically 12 pm to 4 pm, weather permitting. Extra days are added in December. Enclosed shoes are required on the trains. See the society's site for the current roster.
Each year
Traralgon International — January
A professional tennis tournament at the Traralgon Tennis Association courts, usually in the second half of January in the lead-up to the Australian Open. Qualifying and main-draw matches run through the week, with finals mid-week. Entry to the grounds is typically free. Fixtures and any ticketed sessions are published by the Traralgon Tennis Association.
Traralgon Marathon and Running Festival — June
A marathon, half marathon and 10 km, usually on a Sunday in mid-June. The course starts and finishes at Glengarry, a short drive north of Traralgon, and uses the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail. Entries, the handbook and course maps are on the Traralgon Marathon site. Accommodation in town fills up that weekend, so book a room early if you are running or spectating.
Traralgon Horse Show — October
An agricultural horse show at Glenview Park, McNairn Road, Traralgon East. Date and programme sit on the Victorian Agricultural Shows calendar.
Traralgon Cup — November
The Latrobe Valley Racing Club's feature meeting at Glenview Park, usually on a Sunday late in November. It is the social end of the local spring racing season. Race-day details come from Latrobe Valley Racing Club.
Arts and sport through the year
The Gippsland Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon is the valley's main theatre: touring music, comedy, children's shows and local productions.
