Most of Traralgon's restaurants sit within a few blocks of each other on Seymour, Hotham, Church and Franklin Streets, so it is easy to walk between them and see who has a table. The range is wider than the town's size suggests: Thai, Indian, Sri Lankan, Japanese, Chinese and Italian kitchens, steak and schnitzel, and modern Australian dining rooms. For a bistro meal, the pubs are worth a look too. Book ahead on Friday and Saturday nights, and on event weekends when the town fills up.
